If you’re turning over the idea about vacationing in New York, making your plans ahead of time is really the only way to go. There are just so many things to see as well as do that you have to have at the very least a basic idea of how you wish to spend your days before you are able to start out. New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it didn’t get that way for no reason and it has a long history which is a huge part of its greatness.

If I were to choose the way to use my time in New York and what incredible things about NYC to show to my children, I would choose to introduce them to the things which bore the most significance historically. I would wish my children to understand the past of our country good and bad and I wish them to one day instill in their own children the importance of such history.
By visiting the national parks initially, I am able to enjoy the advantages of their price tag because free is great nearly any way you slice it, specifically if you and your children are receiving an education. Ellis Island is a wonderful place to visit, although I believe I’ll show them the Statue of Liberty from far away rather than taking that ferry to it. There is just so many things to do within New York and every second counts, although I wish for them to have a wonderful time as much as I wish them to get some wonderful pieces of knowledge. Insights which they may share with their friends at school too (something besides the latest and greatest new Wii game that is coming out soon).
Some of the important national parks I would love to take my children are: Federal Hall, in which George Washington was inaugurated, Grant’s Tomb, Theodore Roosevelt’s Birthplace, and Castle Clinton, that was created for the purpose of keeping encroacher’s out. I would also like to take them to Saint Paul’s Church, although not for spiritual purposes, simply for Religious freedom reasons. I believe there is an important lesson to be taught there even now, maybe particularly now.
I believe the lessons that can be learned about the history of our country within NYC are just as essential as the lessons that can learned in Washington or Philadelphia. Our nation has come far on it’s road to democracy and we’ve stumbled a few times along the way. There never would have been the Witch trials in Salem, the Civil War, or the Civil Rights Movement, however we have made it very far and still have a long way to go. I wish for my children to learn from our past and to look forward to our future.
I think these are the lessons we can learn from the state parks and those are a lot more valuable than the lessons we can pick up in toy stores or by throwing a Frisbee in Central Park. I wish for my children to go to museums as well as toy shops and witness different cultures, I additionally wish for them to go to their home with a good notion of the past of our great nation.
